The Challenge

SAP needed engaging ways to present information during workshops and events. Traditional presentations often struggled to maintain participant attention and encourage active learning.

The goal was to create reusable AR-based gamification templates that could be adapted for different events, learning objectives, and audiences while remaining easy to maintain and expand.

VISUALIZING NODE ARCHITECTURE

The Problem

Biggest Design Challenge

During SAP workshops could take the whole day the goal was to let attendees learn and retain information in an interactive an interactive way. Creating templates flexible enough to support different workshop topics without redesigning the entire experience each time.

The Solution

Separated content from gameplay systems so facilitators could swap questions, clues, and rewards while reusing the same interaction framework.

Core Responsibilities

Experience Design

Designed the learning flow and gameplay structure Defined interaction patterns for workshop attendees Created two reusable gamification templates

Visual Design

Designed UI flows and presentation visuals Aligned all assets with SAP branding guidelines

Development

Implemented the experiences in PlayCanvas Built reusable systems for content replacement and expansion Built bonus game for the XR stage at SAP this one couldn't be shared outside the company

Design Goals

Intuative

Anyone who is a phone user can play

Themed

The visuals match the visuals of the rest of the SAP Experience

Interactive

It is not static

Informational

The person was able to learn while remaining entertained

The visuals had to correspond to the branding guidelines of SAP for a consistent look

The Problem

Why Scavenger Hunt?

Participants were physically moving through the venue. A location-based experience encouraged exploration while naturally exposing attendees to different workshop stations. This transformed passive observation into active discovery.

The Solution

Why an AR Quiz?

The quiz template was designed to reinforce learning through immediate recall. Participants had to retrieve information shortly after being exposed to it, improving retention.

The Impact

Final impact

Delivered two reusable AR gamification templates for SAP workshops. Rather than creating one-off experiences, the solution provided a scalable framework that could be reused across future events by replacing content while preserving the underlying mechanics.

What worked

  • โ—The game was intuitive
  • โ—The visuals matched the rest of the workshop so it was seamless
  • โ—The users showed curiosity and they did retain the information better

Outcome

The project resulted in two reusable AR gamification templates that could be adapted for different workshops, educational goals, and event environments.

Learning

Designing for reusability is different from designing a single experience. Simple game mechanics can significantly increase engagement in educational settings.
